After years of attending specialist courses and helping build other houses, our client had a clear idea of what they wanted their own straw-bale house to look like! We helped develop those ideas, test options for the roof, played with internal layouts and helped visualise the finished product. They have successfully been awarded planning permission and we are waiting for them to start on site so that we can have a go ourselves!

Outside the development area of the local settlement, the proposed dwelling had to work within tight planning constraints. The scheme includes a two-storey circular house, an attached garage and separate garden store with solar panels, all utilising straw bale construction with a lime render finish and cedar shingles to the roof.
The client is going to self-build the project and as it’s local, we’re volunteering to help!
